I recommend that you have a test shoot (unpaid) before doing any paid work to be sure that the creative team shows up on time and produces quality work. When using Model Mayhem, be sure to meet the people you are working with beforehand or at least talk to them on the phone a few times to discuss your concepts. People sometimes cancel at the last minute or may never even show up to a shoot. The people on Model Mayhem are not held by a code of ethics or rules, which can be problematic. When I travel, Model Mayhem is essential because it allows me to post casting calls in a region so I can find a team in an area I am unfamiliar with.Īlthough I seldom use Model Mayhem now that I have a steady creative team, it was essential in the beginning for me to make connections with other creatives and find people I could eventually rely on to help me build my fashion flair name. I have used Model Mayhem on many of my fashion flair shoots it has helped me connect with creatives who later became an essential part of my fashion team. Whenever you need to hire hair, makeup, or wardrobe professionals, you can put an ad out (casting call) to see who is interested in fulfilling the position at a predefined rate. I then sort through the respondents and choose the people I want to work with. People who are interested in my shoot and what I have to offer can respond to the post. Basically, you are creating an online Model Mayhem ad where you indicate the date of the shoot, the type of person you are looking for (hair, makeup, and so on), the compensation for the shoot (paid shoot or just for practice), and any other related information (like the concept).
